Today...5K in 45 minutes! Okay I know it's not the fastest 3.11 miles in history, but I'm proud of myself. Last time I did a 5K, March 30, it took me 59 minutes! I cut 14 minutes off my time!!!! I can physically feel myself getting stronger, I'm not getting winded walking around a store, I don't ache all the time, and most importantly I enjoy exercising once I get over to the gym or out for a walk. I'm almost afraid to say it because I don't want to jinx it, but I think I'm changing for the good! Yay!!!
So yesterday I ended up not going to the gym and doing some light work at my place. I spent a good portion of the day working on a paper for school. Here's the shocker about that statement...the paper isn't due till May! I'm a procrastinator and normally what happens is the last two weeks of school I am scrambling to finish all the work I need to get done in all my classes. There are normally sleepless nights, long days, crossed eyes, and LOTS of bad snacking. I told myself that if I want to make a lifestyle change I needed to change all of my bad habits. Procrastinating over school is a big bad habit. Although I didn't finish the paper as I had hoped that I would have, I did get six pages written, which will help as I continue to try and finish it before Friday. So because of the work I was doing I didn't make it over to the gym, so last night I did some yoga. Although not huge, it was physical activity and even though I'm not very good at it, it does help me clear my mind. I was a little surprised that I really missed physical activity, that's why I did the yoga. My mind and body are getting used to daily exercise.
So I have one more thing for today, I need your help. I want to "run" a real 5K in the next few months and I don't know which one I should do. I really want it to be in the central/southern Indiana or Louisville, Kentucky area since that is where all my friends and family are. I really want their support for this. I'd also like it to be a race that a friend could join me in, so I have someone that can help me through the course. My goal will be to do it in 40 minutes, which is about a 13 minute mile (yikes!). So please pass on your suggestions to me about races you know about either as a comment here, or on my Facebook page. Thanks! =)
